New Report Highlights Urgent Need for School Discipline Reform

In response to School Discipline Consensus Report: Strategies from the Field to Keep Students Engaged in School and Out of the Juvenile Justice System, a report released today by the Council of State Governments’ Justice Center, New York Civil Liberties Union Executive Director Donna Lieberman issued the following statement: “This report builds on a growing body of research demonstrating that excessively harsh school discipline practices push students out of school, increase drop-out rates and unfairly impact students of color and those with special needs.
